Before the Great Silence Afinil was the center of Bardic lore in Edil Amarandh. Afinil was the home of Nelsor, perhaps the greatest Bard of all time, and was the capitol city of the Dhyllin people. Afinil was where Sharma (The Nameless One) went to study before he began his conquest of Annar. The Nameless One hated the people of Afinil more than any other because of their bravery and fortitude against him. During the Great Silence Sharma razed the city so that even the location of the city was lost, but in The Singing, Maerad finds the city, and sees it with her powers.
